﻿Hello everyone, I hope you're excited about today's learning. I've got my friend Regi here with me today. Can we say "hello Regi"? Regi says "hello everyone". Regi's going to help us out a little bit with our math starter today. I hope you have your clever counting head on. Let's see. Here's what we're going to do. I'm going to show you some fingers and you're going to write down the amount of fingers that you can see. Regi's going to show you how. Let's take a look and see how's he going to help us. Are you ready? Here we are. I'm going to hold up my fingers and- Can you see them? How many fingers can you see? Regi's taking a look. Here we go. I think Regi's going to write it down. Five. Did you see five fingers too? I'm sure you did. Give yourselves a pat on the back. Right. Here we are, I think we're going to have another number now. Get ready to look. Are you ready? Here is comes. How many fingers can you see? Do you think you could write that down? Let's take a look. Regi's going to write it too. Once you've written your number down, hold it up to the screen. Regi's going to have a go. I wonder if you've got the same number. There we are, are you holding up your number too? Are they the same? I was holding up three fingers. Give yourselves two claps- for great counting. Now, one more time, let's see if you can count how many fingers I'm going to hold up this time. Remember to do clever counting. Are you ready? Here we go. Get ready to write it down. I think Regi's going to get ready too. Once you've finished writing it down, hold it up to the screen. Here we go. I was holding up six fingers! Did you get it right? I'm sure you did. Well done everybody, give yourselves a fantastic, excellent job. Now, let's move on to today's learning. For today, we're going to be learning how to estimate and count. We're going to be doing some estimating and counting. Here's what you'll need. You'll need: a piece of paper, and a pen or a pencil to write down your answers, and you'll also need some number cards up to 20 to help you out a bit. Press pause to go and get those things now and I'll see you in a bit when you're ready. Welcome back now everyone, now that you've got your number cards to 20, and a your pen and your paper, you are ready for today's learning. Let's take a look at our star words. I'm going to say them and you can say them after me. Are you ready? Here they are. Estimate Count How many? Those are our star words for today. Now, I'm going to show you an amount of objects in a container. Your job is to estimate how many you can see. And, then you're going to have a go at writing down the amount on a piece of paper. Are you ready? We're going to put it on the screen but it's not going to be there for very long so you're going to have to do some really great estimating, and I'm sure you'll be fantastic. Here it come. How many of my object can you see? They're little wiggly eyes. How many can you see? I have to take them away now. Excellent. Write down your answer on your piece of paper. You can use your number cards to help you. Once you've done that, shout your answer out to the screen. Excellent, I can hear a lot of you shouting out the answer. Let's take a look and see how many there were. Should we count 'em together? One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight. There were eight wiggly eyes in my container. Were you close? Did you get eight too? Let's see how we can write that down. Here we are. Eight. Great estimating everyone. Now - I've got some other wiggly eyes I'm going to put into my container. I wonder if you can estimate how many you can see now. Be careful, it might be a little bit tricky. Let's take a look. Remember to do quick, careful counting. Here we go. How many can you see? Did you count them? Did you do great estimating? I'm sure you did. Use your number cards to help you find the right number, or if you don't need them, just write the answer down on your piece of paper. Shout the answer out to the screen when you know how many you think you saw. I can hear so many of you shouting out some great answers. Great estimating everyone! Let's take a look together. Let's count them. One, two, three, four. There are four wiggly eyes in the container. They're a bit bigger than the other wiggly eyes. Let's take a look and see if we can write number four. Here we go. Four. Number four, for four wiggle eyes. Great job everyone. You're doing a good job at estimating. Let's take a look again. Here we are. We've got another amount of wiggly eyes coming up. See if you can use your great estimating skills to see how many you think there are now. There you go. One, two, three, and, now it's gone. How many wiggly eyes do you think you saw in the container? Write down your guess on our piece of paper, and then shout your answer out to the screen. I can hear some great suggestions. Was it more or was it less than the amount that I showed you before? I can hear some more great suggestions. Excellent, hold up your piece of paper, let's see what you wrote down. I wonder if it's going to be the same as the amount that's in the container. Let's take a look. We can count them together. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten. There were 10 wiggly eyes in the container. Was you right? Was you close? Did you guess a number that was nearly 10 or close to 10? I bet you did. Give yourselves two claps. Amazing, now, let's have a go at writing number 10. See if it looks a little bit like this. There we go, number 10. For 10 wiggly eyes. Excellent, now- Got one more- amount to estimate. Let's see how great you are. I'm sure you've been learning how to estimate very well in this lesson. Let's take a look. Get your careful counting ready. Here is comes. How many wiggly eyes can you see in the container? Have a good guess. I'm going to put them a bit closer. See if that helps. There were are. How many wiggly eyes did you see? Take a good guess and write your answer down on your piece of paper. Shout your answer out when you're ready. I can hear some great guesses. Well done everybody. Let's take a look and see if we can count them together. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve. 12! There were 12 small wiggly eyes in the container. Was that more or less than the amount that we had before? It was more. Well done. Now let's see if can write number 12. Just like this. Does you number 12 look like this? I'm sure it does. Well done everybody. Give yourselves two claps. I'm very impressed. Great estimating skills. You can practise estimating different amounts that you can see around your home. Maybe you can pick up a pasta packet. How many pieces of pasta do you think might be in there? Have you used some already? Who knows? Let's take a look at my jar now.
