It will consider why the government took action to deal with poverty and the various attitudes towards the poor in Elizabethan England, examining the differences between the 'deserving' and the 'undeserving poor'. It will then consider how Elizabeth's government dealt with the problem of poverty through legislation and consider the strengths and limitations of each approach.
