Lights and drums
Students will learn how to encode, transmit, and decode short messages using a variety of coding schemes and communication medium (signals, light, sounds, holes in paper, etc.). They will understand that text representation uses sequences of symbols (ASCII is one of the coding schemes used), while emphasis is placed on distinguishing between symbols and the way in which they are embodied in physical media.
