Shanaz Begum

Shanaz Begum

Secondary Chemistry, Combined Science

I am currently teaching science in a school in Salford. I love science, especially chemistry. I have been teaching for 17 years and teaching isn’t just a job for me, I love it and I wouldn’t do anything else. I love the interaction with students and how everyday is different. When I’m not teaching I love to cook for my family and enjoy reading a good book.

Secondary Chemistry, Combined Science

I am a head of science at a school in Stockport. I have been teaching science for 14 years, specialising in chemistry. I enjoy a ’good’ science joke, one of my favourites is ’’I heard oxygen and magnesium were going out, I was like O Mg!’’. Away from the classroom I’m a big football fan. I coach my son’s team and still try and play a bit myself.

Sally Charlton

Secondary Chemistry, Biology, Science, Physics

I’m a secondary school Science teacher and form tutor. I’ve been a teacher for 2 years, working with students aged 11-15 years old. The part of my job I enjoy the most has to be practical lessons. Most of my spare time is spent walking my dog, reading crime novels and watching space/animal documentaries.

Secondary Chemistry, Combined Science

I’m a Head of Science and KS4 subject lead at a school in London. I studied Chemical Engineering at the University of Nottingham as I’ve always been interested in the manufacturing of makeup products and I have a PhD in the synthesis of high-value biodegradable polymers using microwaves. I worked at one of the world’s largest cosmetics companies before becoming a Science teacher and my favourite part of my job is sharing my experience in industry with students and inspiring students to pursue a career in STEM. When I’m not teaching, I enjoy playing the guitar, baking and gardening.

Secondary Chemistry, Biology

I am a Zoology graduate and have been teaching science for 5 years. Although I love teaching all three sciences, I find Biology particularly fascinating, especially anything genetics or animal-related. In my spare time I enjoy rowing, baking, walking my gorgeous dog Darcy and watching Sci-Fi films!

Secondary Chemistry

I am a secondary school teacher in Bognor Regis and I teach both Biology and Chemistry GCSE as well as Biology A Level. My favourite part of teaching is seeing my students’ understanding of Science increase and their passion for the subject grow - it really is the most rewarding job. Outside of school, I like to travel to explore new places, bake lots of tasty treats and spend time with my lovely family and friends.

Bijal Patel

Secondary Chemistry

Hi everyone, I’m Dr Patel and I’m currently a lead practitioner and second in charge of Science at a secondary school in London. I’ve always really enjoyed learning Science, and find it truly fascinating that it can explain how the world around us works! Although I love teaching chemistry, I didn’t study this at university. I actually graduated from University College London with a PhD in Neuroscience in 2014, and have been teaching ever since. I really enjoy teaching and inspiring the next generation of Scientists! Outside school I really enjoy travelling and exploring the world, and have visited nearly 30 countries!

Adam Robbins

Secondary Chemistry

I am a science teacher from sunny Bognor Regis. I love teaching all aspects of science, but specialise in Chemistry and Psychology at A-level. I am lucky to be able to teach such fascinating and fundamentally important subjects and really enjoy watching that moment when students understand something that they were convinced was beyond them only a few weeks ago.
