Secondary Physical Education

I am currently Head of Dance, teaching at a school in Suffolk. I feel really lucky to teach the subject, as I get to do what I love everyday! I have experience teaching dance from ages 3 up to 18 and love being able to see how working in a creative way helps students to find out more about themselves and become more confident.

Primary Physical Education

I am an independent Education Consultant, having taught for 10 years in three different schools and 9 years in teacher training at both primary and secondary stages. I service a number of contracts for the Association for Physical Education and other national organisations and this has included international work on curriculum design, pedagogy and assessment, supporting teachers in the UK, Saudi Arabia, Kosovo and recently Qatar. I love learning and inspiring teachers and engaging children and young people so they themselves develop a love of learning in and through physical education. I am a season ticket holder at Everton FC, so as well as professional learning, I have personally developed a lot of resilience and coping mechanisms over the years to deal with emotional disappointment!

I have supported a number of organisations with the development of content including Association for Physical Education, Oak Academy, Hampshire PE and School Sport, Energise Me and a number of coaching organisations. I am a Partnership Development Manager for a School Sport Partnership in the Wyre Forest district of Worcestershire, working with 46 schools across all key stages. Most of my time is spent delivering CPD and bespoke support to schools, upskilling staff and improving the quality PE being delivered in schools. The best part of my job is that every day is different and I get to work with a wide range of people who value the importance of PE, school sport and physical activity.

I am the Senior Adviser for PE & School Sport for Cambridgeshire County Council, and a strategic adviser for the national subject association, AfPE. I am passionate about the empowerment of young people through high quality Physical Education. PE makes children’s lives better, and I come alive when standing in front of any class of children, and I can witness them learning to move, and moving to learn.
