Rivers

In this lesson we will be learning about rivers around the world. We will mainly be focusing on the continents of South America, Africa and Europe.

Where are the world's rivers?

In this lesson, we will be learning about how rivers shape the land. We will be learning about the four types of erosion, the four types of transportation  and learning about what deposition is.

How do rivers shape the land?

In this lesson, we will be learning about what landforms are and how they can be created. We will also be looking at how rivers can create dramatic landforms by studying the Horseshoe Bend in the Grand Canyon and the Nile Delta in Egypt.

What landforms do rivers create? (Part 1)

In this lesson, we will be learning about how meanders in rivers are formed. In order to do this, we will be looking at the process of erosion and deposition in more depth. We will also be learning about how an oxbow lake is formed.

What landforms do rivers create? (Part 2)

In this lesson, we will be learning about rivers and why they are important to people. We will be looking at two case studies in the lesson today - the Volga River in Russia and the Amazon River in South America.

Why are rivers important to people?

In this lesson, we will be learning about the physical causes of flooding as well as the human factors which can increase the risk of flooding. We will also be learning about dams by studying the Aswan High Dam in Egypt.
