Specialist Physical Development

I currently lead two Specialist Teaching School’s in Derby and am very lucky to work with the most inspiring students, families and colleagues. Sport is a great passion of mine and I enjoy working with local, regional and national partners to develop inclusive opportunities for students to participate, compete and enjoy the wide ranging benefits sport and exercise can bring. A career highlight to date was supporting 3 students with additional needs to compete as equals in a mainstream triathlon.....this really helped to challenge perceptions and raise aspirations as to what our students are able to achieve.

Specialist Physical Development

I trained in Secondary PE seven years ago before quickly moving over to Special Education. I am currently head of PE in a Specialist Secondary School in Sheffield. I am a middle leader and the faculty lead for creative subjects including Music, Drama and Art. I am also the lead teacher for Outdoor Education and run the Duke of Edinburgh Award, alongside being a Specialist Leader in Education with an expertise in sensory circuits, delivering training across Sheffield Primary Schools. I always strive to give the students the best opportunities, seeing them achieve to the highest of their ability, creating memorable moments through physical activity and the great outdoors.

I have been practising yoga for 30 years and trained as a yoga teacher 10 years ago. I love to use yoga as a way to help myself and others to relax and enjoy life to the full.
