Light & dark

In this lesson we are going to learn about light and dark. We will learn where light comes from and how we can see it. We will also learn about what causes things to be dark.

What is light?

Have you ever wondered how our eyes are able to see things? In this lesson, we will be learning how our eyes are able to see different objects. We will find out how light travels from a light source to our eyes and what happens when it reaches the eye.

How can we see objects?

In this lesson, we will be learning about the difference between night and day. You will find out how the earth turns and why night and day happen.

What is the difference between night and day?

In this lesson, we will be learning about reflective and non-reflective materials. We will investigate which objects are made from reflective materials and which objects are made from non-reflective materials.

Which materials are reflective?

In this lesson, we will be learning about shadows and how they are formed. You will need a pencil, a piece of paper, and some objects from around your home. These will be explained in the video.

How are shadows formed?

In this lesson, we will be learning how you can change the size of a shadow. You'll have a go at creating your own shadow puppet theatre. You will need a pencil, a piece of paper, and if you've got them, some cardboard, a pair of scissors and a glue stick. You must ask for the help of an adult when using your scissors.
